Piper-Heidsieck is one of the biggest champagne houses in the world, based in Reims, in the Champagne-Ardenne. Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, from 1839 added to the surname Piper Heidsieck cousin of the founder, Henri-Guillaume Piper, who followed him with Christian Heidsieck in the run of the house. At the end of the 80s the house was acquired by the large group Remy Cointreau and from 2011 the two main brands, Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck, are the property of the group Européenne de Participation Industrielle (EPI), while a third brand, Heidsieck & Co Monopole, is owned by the family since 1997 Vranken. Piper-Heidsieck uses all three varieties of grape allowed for champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, in various proportions depending on the various products.
